#100mudras - 97/100 - Chinmaya Mudra V
CHINMAYA MUDRA - Gesture of Awareness. The Sanskrit word for chinmaya means “manifested consciousness”. the four folded fingers represent the finite aspects of the world around us. The closed fist shows that the phenomenal world seems to be severely limited. The thumb pointing forward indicates the consciousness and the transcendental aspect of existence that pervades everything. The material world is linked intimately with consciousness - this is indicated by the contact between index finger and the thumb.
Mudras 81 - 100: SACRED HANDS. inspired by Byzantine sacred paintings and the concept of the sacred heart, each mudra has a metallic ink halo with symbols related to the mudra. This mudra has runic symbols for ending strife and prevent anger, the astrological glyph for the Sun, symbols of knowledge, including the greek symbol for knowledge.
Watercolor, ink, 12-in by 18-in.
